Areas of Focus
We are committed towards reducing the environmental impact of our activities, across all the work we do by focusing on key areas which include carbon emissions, water, and waste. DFE Pharma aims to become carbon neutral by 2030, we are continuously working towards reducing greenhouse emissions, landfill waste and water waste through our projects and initiatives
Our Approach
In 2021 our shareholders CVC Capital Partners awarded 2 Eco Grants to our plants in Foxhol, the Netherlands and Cuddalore, India. With these grants, we are further developing our environmental initiatives to target our environmental focus areas with the following projects:
Foxhol (the Netherlands)
Improvement of recovery of ethanol vapor- reduction of ethanol in wastewater
Cuddalore (India)
Install LED lights- to reduce electricity consumption and CO2 emissions.
Waste Management- further improvements on waste separation to effectively collect the
three types of waste in the plant: Hazardous, non-biodegradable and bio-degradable waste.
Reduction of steam consumption
Our Progress
Solar power installation in India Cuddalore site
DFE Pharma cares about the communities we live and work with, that is why we have taken another step towards protecting the environment by making use of solar energy. Our plant in Cuddalore, India installed a 30 KW solar panel, with this form of renewable energy the plant can generate enough energy for daily operations while reducing CO2 emissions equivalent to planting 1386 trees annually.
DFE Pharma New Zealand team achieved 65% reduction of general waste over 3 years
DFE Pharma has identified recycling options for waste for Kapuni, New Zealand plant to help in the overall reduction of general waste. With this effort we have achieved an overall reduction of waste to landfill of 65% over the past 3 years. DFE Pharma NZ is now recycling items including all lactose waste to stock food, filter socks, metal, cardboard, and plastic.
